Agribusiness Market Ecosystem Alliance

Agribusiness Market Ecosystem Alliance (AMEA)’s mission is to transform the systems that support farmers organisations and agri-SMEs to create value for farmers.

The AMEA network works toward a system that accelerates farmer organisation professionalisation and incentivises service quality improvement. Small Foundation has provided AMEA with multiannual funding to support start-up and expand its operations.

Our partnership and learning

In 2021, Small Foundation continued to be a member of AMEA and participate actively in the network. Small Foundation also served on AMEA’s board until October 2021, sharing lessons from our wider experience in the market and working with impact networks. AMEA members work on agtech, access to finance, global guidelines for farmers’ organisations and toolkits of supporting farmers’ organisations.

“In 2021, our partnership with Small Foundation has benefitted us through providing our local network facilitators with the opportunity to learn from other impact networks through the Converge Network Leadership Series.

Small Foundation’s leadership has also brought us together with AGRA and Agriterra, leading to the launch of an agricultural business development services (agri-BDS) research initiative, which has potential to challenge the thinking around agri-BDS provision.”

Agribusiness Market Ecosystem Alliance

With AMEA, Small Foundation has learned a great deal about the potential for impact networks and how to support them. As a result of partnering with AMEA, Small Foundation provides as standard a package of non-financial support to all network partners in addition to flexible financing.
